JoeCo is based near the beautiful university city of Cambridge in the UK. Established in 2007, the company’s research and development activity has focussed on its revolutionary BLACKBOX RECORDER, designed for capturing live multi-channel audio. Since the recorder’s release in 2009, JoeCo has won several prestigious awards including a PLASA Award for Innovation (UK) and a series of international awards from industry press, readers and trade associations including Best New Company, and Best Recorder.
2010 saw the release of the BLACKBOX PLAYER, a dedicated multi-channel playback option specifically designed to replay backing tracks or multiple surround stems for live shows and themed entertainment. During 2011, the BlackBox family further expanded with the release of the BBR64-MADI recorder version, designed to record and replay up to 64 channels of MADI data and the BBR-DANTE, designed to record and replay audio from a Dante network. In 2013, the company released JoeCoRemote, which offers both wireless and wired remote control of all BlackBox Recorders and Players via iPad.
2014 has seen the release of JoeCo’s new flagship product, the BBR1MP Recorder, a 24-channel live audio recorder with 24 integrated high-quality mic preamps. User installable Dante or MADI interface cards add an optional 24 channels of Dante or MADI i/o. The unit is fully controllable via JoeCoRemote for iPad
Distributed in over 40 countries, the BlackBox family’s growing customer base includes touring bands, outside broadcast facilities, theatres and worship venues, theme parks, broadcasters, film and TV sound recordists and post-production facilities.
